This series contains ten paintings. All works were completed in 2013. The project grew from reconstructing the opening sentence to Kafka's Metamorphosis into: "As Phineas Grid awoke one morning from uneasy dreams, he found the world, from his bed, transformed into three-dimensional discord."
Gridlife is the invented experience of a grid who has been two-dimensional for his entire life, waking one day to find himself in a three dimensional world. Through disparate imagery conjuring a loose narrative, we travel along with our protagonist who is trying to make sense of it all. In attempting to deal with issues of alienation and integration, the grid, that awesome hallmark of Modernism, gets a life.
